How it trades

Yesterday sets the range.
Today decides.

Daybreak waits for gold, the yen and bitcoin to break out of the previous day’s range, takes at most one trade per variant and protects it from the first second.

  1. Yesterday sets the rangeEvery trading day starts from the previous day’s high and low.
  2. Orders wait near both edgesA buy stop near yesterday’s high, a sell stop near its low, each with its own stop-loss. One gold variant only trades in the direction of the trend.
  3. The breakout decidesThe side price breaks fills. Orders that never fill are removed before the session ends.
  4. The stop does the restA target, a trailing stop or the daily close ends the trade. Nothing is added to it.

  • No grid, no averaging down

At most one position per variant. A losing trade is never added to, and size never grows after a loss.

  • A stop on every trade

Sent to the broker with the position, so it holds even when your terminal is offline.

  • Nine variants, three markets

Three ways to trade the breakout on gold, on the yen and on bitcoin. In our tests, gold and yen months tended to move against each other. Each market can be switched off.

  • Steps aside for the jobs report

Official US jobs report dates to the end of 2027, plus MetaTrader’s live calendar.

  • Your broker’s setup handled

Finds symbol names such as XAUUSDp and converts other server times to the hours it was tested in.

  • Sized to your account

Risk per trade follows the balance. Small accounts start with three variants; the status box shows when all nine run.

What this backtest does and does not establish

One run of RX_Daybreak_v104 (1.04) with gold, USDJPY and bitcoin on one H1 chart in the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester, mode “Every tick based on real ticks”, $10,000 deposit, leverage 1:500, 1% risk per market, default settings. Costs of IC Trading: spread, commission and its current swap rates. Run by us on 3 November 2026.

Price history: IC Trading’s own real ticks from April 2026. IC Trading’s tick history does not reach further back, so before that the test uses real ticks of other brokers (BlackBull Markets, RoboForex) with IC Trading’s median spread. Bitcoin: Binance price ticks with a fixed $6 spread, about IC Trading’s typical spread since late August 2026; when Daybreak’s bitcoin orders filled, IC Trading’s spread averaged about $10 (22 August to 2 November 2026).

The tester fills stop orders without slippage. We added slippage afterwards to every stop fill and stop exit of the same trades; the results are under “Limits”. The jobs report pause works in the tester from the EA’s own date list; MetaTrader’s calendar only adds to it live.

Monthly and yearly results are the change of the balance, rebuilt from the report’s deal list. A backtest is not a live or demo-forward result. Different brokers, deposits and start dates produce different results.

Tester run: 2026-11-03-day104-ic-rf-gy-r1p00

Every result is its own MetaTrader 5 tester run of Daybreak 1.04: same real ticks, IC Trading costs (bitcoin: Binance ticks with a fixed $6 spread), $10,000 start, 1 July 2022 to 25 October 2026, tested 3 to 3 November 2026. Each combination runs at the three fixed risk levels; nothing is tuned to a target drawdown. Where a level asks for less than the broker’s smallest lot, Daybreak trades the smallest lot, so the 0.5% runs with gold carry a little more risk than the level says. The slippage figures are calculated on the run’s own trades: gold $0.30 per ounce, yen 0.5 pip, bitcoin $6 per stop fill; hard slippage is gold $0.50, yen 1 pip, bitcoin $30. Backtests, not live accounts; past drawdown is not a loss limit.

Small accounts

Starts at about €500.
Grows into all nine variants.

Below about €2,100 Daybreak trades Gold Swing, Yen Swing and Yen High RR at the smallest lot size. Above that, all nine with 1% risk per market.

Same rules, IC Trading costs and real ticks, euro account, without slippage. The limits follow the gold price; the status box shows the exact amounts for your account. Below about €425 Daybreak places no new orders.

The original report

Straight from
the Strategy Tester.

Charts exactly as MetaTrader 5 saved them with this backtest: Daybreak 1.04, 1 July 2022 – 25 October 2026, 100% real ticks with IC Trading costs, $10,000 start, tested 3 November 2026. The charts carry no dates themselves; their x-axis counts deals.

What you get

The tested EA.
And everything to run it.

Give it a reliable setup.
Then leave it alone.

Daybreak runs on desktop MT5. You choose the account and keep the terminal connected.

Talk through the requirements

A hedging account at IC Trading or BlackBull Markets

Opened through our partner link, with gold, USDJPY and bitcoin. The EA finds suffixes such as XAUUSDp itself; without bitcoin at your broker it trades gold and yen.

From about €500

More capital means more variants, not more risk per trade. Below about €425 the EA places no new orders and says why.

MT5 on a Windows VPS

Algo Trading on, on one chart only, terminal connected every day: bitcoin also trades at the weekend. Hosting is a separate cost. The phone app is for monitoring.

How do I get access?

Open an MT5 hedging account at IC Trading or BlackBull Markets through our partner link and send us your MT5 account number on Telegram. We check that it was opened through our link and activate it; the EA picks that up by itself. Every demo account of any broker gets 30 days to test, without asking.

What does Daybreak cost?

No licence fee: access runs through our partner-broker arrangement, and we receive broker rebates on referred trading activity. Spreads, commissions, swaps and VPS hosting can still cost money.

Is it a grid or martingale EA?

No. Every position has its own stop-loss and target. Daybreak never adds to a losing trade and never increases the size after a loss.

How much money do I need?

From about €500. Below about €2,100 Daybreak trades six of its nine variants at the smallest lot size (three without bitcoin); above that all nine, with 1% risk per market. The limits follow the gold price; the status box shows the exact figures for your account. In our test a €500 account grew to €17,181 from July 2022 and to €11,608 from January 2023 (deepest drop 18.34%).

Are there months without profit?

Yes. In the backtest some months and a few longer stretches ended below the previous high, for example summer 2023. In our longer tests, gold earned little in years without a clear trend (2016 to 2022); the yen carried the result then. Plan for that before you start.

Is there a live account?

Not yet. A demo account runs Daybreak since 29 October 2026. The figures on this page come from the MetaTrader 5 Strategy Tester with real ticks; live trading adds slippage, outages and your own broker’s costs.

Does it work with my broker?

Live licences are for IC Trading and BlackBull Markets accounts opened through our link. The EA finds the broker’s symbol names itself (for example XAUUSDp) and converts other server times to the hours it was tested in. On a demo account you can test it at any broker.

Do you control my account?

No. The broker account stays in your name. You fund it, withdraw and decide whether algorithmic trading runs. Every open trade keeps its stop at the broker.

Versions

What changed.

Newest first. The EA you get is always the newest version.

  1. 1.06

    • News dates now come once a day as a signed list from our server, so new dates of the US jobs report and the Fed decisions reach every copy without a new EA file. Without valid dates the EA places no new orders and the status panel says what to do.
    • Bitcoin stays out of the market on Fed decision days: the EA closes shortly before the decision and places nothing more that day. Gold and yen are unchanged.
    • The backtest and risk levels on this page are still the 1.04 runs; with 1.06, gold and yen give the same result to the cent and bitcoin does better on Fed days.
Older versions (6)
  1. 1.05

    • If the broker turns down a partial close, for example on the tick just before the market opens, Daybreak tries again a few seconds later instead of letting the whole position run on.
    • After a daylight-saving switch the EA waits for a fresh answer from the licence server before it places new orders, so the first orders after a restart are never an hour off.
    • The trading rules are the same as in 1.04; the backtest and risk levels on this page are the 1.04 runs.
  2. 1.04

    • New exits per market, chosen in mass tests of the MetaTrader 5 tester on real ticks and checked on a later and an unseen period. Some variants now close part of the position on the way and let the rest run.
    • Bitcoin is on by default; at a broker without bitcoin the EA trades gold and yen and says so. Risk per market ships at 1% and accepts at most 4%.
    • The backtest, the small-account runs and the risk levels on this page were rerun with 1.04: gold, yen and bitcoin at 1% per market.
  3. 1.03

    • Finer stop management: when a trade runs against it, one variant per market can pull its stop-loss closer once, and the trailing stops now follow the current price directly. A stop only ever moves closer, never further away.
    • The backtest and the risk modes on this page were rerun with 1.03 on the same real ticks.
  4. 1.02

    • If MetaTrader starts two charts with Daybreak at the same moment, only one copy trades; the other shows why and stays idle.
    • A blocked or expired licence and the end of the demo test now name the right next step in the status box.
  5. 1.01

    • If MetaTrader starts before its symbol list is ready, Daybreak now looks for its markets again every minute instead of waiting for a restart.
    • Trading rules unchanged: the 1.00 backtest gives the same result to the cent.
  6. 1.00

    • First customer version: gold and the Japanese yen from one chart, Bitcoin optional.
    • Status box in English or German, one copy per account, the broker’s symbol names and server time handled by the EA.
    • Small accounts from about €500 trade three of the six variants; the box shows the limits for your account.
